September Update 🎶
It’s been lovely to have a little break over the summer, but I’m now back into the swing of things as the new academic year gets underway!
I’m back in schools delivering both 1:1 and group music therapy sessions, and it’s shaping up to be another busy and exciting year.
Before the summer break, I had the opportunity to run a Music Therapy Career Workshop Day at Penwortham Girls’ High School. The day consisted of five one-hour interactive workshops, giving students the chance to explore all things music therapy — what it is, who it can support, what a career in music therapy looks like, and plenty of opportunities to get involved and experience it for themselves.
I continue to work one day a week for Chai Cancer Care, which is an area of my practice I really value. I’m also delighted to have been invited back to deliver another session for Macmillan in December at the wonderful Willowbrook Hospice, which I’m really looking forward to.
As always, I’ve been keeping my learning and development going too, with some very interesting CPD, including trauma training and exploring assessments through the BAMT mentoring scheme. I’m also currently working towards my Level 2 Counselling qualification, which is proving really interesting and is giving me lots of new ideas and perspectives to bring into my music therapy work.
Here’s to another busy year of making music, connecting with people and continuing to learn along the way! 🎵
